June 22 – World Rainforest Day

The protection of tropical rainforests is not just a necessity — it is a global imperative. These ecosystems harbor over half of the planet’s terrestrial biodiversity, act as powerful carbon sinks that help regulate Earth’s climate, and sustain the livelihoods of millions, especially Indigenous peoples who have cared for them for generations. As deforestation and degradation continue, we edge closer to irreversible damage — accelerating climate change, driving mass extinctions, and destabilizing natural systems.

To protect the rainforests is to protect life itself — our climate, our ecosystems, and our collective future.
