In December 2023, a group of monkeys arrived from TOGO, rescued and repatriated from difficult conditions and in urgent need of proper care and accommodation.
Thanks to the valuable support from the COLUMBUS ZOO & AQUARIUM and other donors/partners, we were able to respond swiftly and effectively to this challenge.
The COLUMBUS ZOO contribution played a crucial role in the building of a specially designed enclosure tailored to the needs of agile Mangabeys. This new structurs provides the animals with the space, safety, and stimulation they require to reach their recovery and adapt to a new, more natural environment.
In addition to the infrastructure, COLUMBUS ZOO’s support also helped us cover the cost of essential food supplies. A well-balanced and species-appropriate diet is a key part of the monkeys’ rehabilitation and long-term well-being.
The monkeys have shown encouraging signs of progress, joined groups of their own kind —exploring their new surroundings, engaging in social behaviors, and gradually regaining their health.
We are deeply grateful to the COLUMBUS ZOO & AQUARIUM for its generosity and commitment to animal welfare. Its help has made a real difference in the lives of these rescued monkeys, giving them a second chance at a better life.
