Hope for 49 Precious Ape Lives residing at J.A.C.K.
Every day, great apes are disappearing from our planet. Poaching, habitat destruction, and the illegal wildlife trade are pushing them closer to extinction. The Democratic Republic of Congo is home to one of the last great forests where apes still roam free — but even here, their future is under threat.
At J.A.C.K., we stand on the frontlines of this crisis. Today, we care for 49 rescued great apes — from playful 3-year-olds to wise 23-year-olds — each one a survivor of violence, loss, and trauma.
War and economic hardship weigh heavily on our country. We live with daily uncertainty, never knowing what tomorrow will bring. But no matter the challenges, we fight to keep every stomach full, provide urgent veterinary care, and give each orphan the safety and love they have been robbed of.
Our surrogate mothers cradle the youngest, offering comfort and stability to babies stolen from the wild. Each one represents a species fighting for its very survival.
The apes of Congo cannot wait. Their forest is shrinking, their numbers are falling. But together, we can give them today — and fight for their tomorrow.
You can be a changemaker!
Willing to help? Here are a few ideas to fundraise / spread awareness and be part of THEIR future:
- “Adopt” a chimp virtually: choose a specific ape and share its story tosponsor it or raise money from friends and family
- Sponsored challenges: run 5 km, cycle, bake cakes… friends pledge money for every achievement.
- Birthday fundraiser: ask friends and relatives to donate to J.A.C.K. instead of giving a gift.
