Netcare helping J.A.C.K.

Dear All

Our Southern DRC Province was recently facing an important plague of measles. Many people (mainly children) lost their lives and at J.A.C.K. we had to take particular measures especially with our care givers whose kids were sick. Maman Angeline and security agent Christian for example could no longer come close to the chimps nor work with them for a few weeks…

A good friend of J.A.C.K., Dr Katja Koeppel  (picture below), who is the senior vet at the Johannesburg Zoo,  decided she would give a hand and managed to obtain 40 vaccines for measles donated to our sanctuary by Netcarean investment holding company operating through its subsidiaries the largest private hospital network in South Africa and the United Kingdom (UK).Dr Katja visiting J.A.C.K. for the 1st time

Because the plague was under control when we received the vaccines, J.A.C.K. didn’t utilize them. But the vaccines are still valid until June 2012  so it means we already have the vaccines in case of emergency.

The chimpanzee orphans residing at J.A.C.K. wish to kindly thank Sharlene of Netcare but also Dr Katja for this wonderful donation!! Remember, J.A.C.K. is living on donations only and without your help, we can’t provide the best to these abandoned creatures…

THANK YOU ALL for THEM !
